Fertility Awareness is being able to identify when you are fertile. This term refers to a a wide category including several different methods Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABMs) each with their own efficacy and methods. FAM or FABMs can be used to avoid or achieve pregnancy, as well as monitor reproductive health. Some methods including teaching Body Literacy while others rely on calculations, algorithms, or devices. So if someone tells you that they practice or teach Fertility Awareness, this can mean many different things and it may be a good idea to ask for more information on which method they use and if it promotes body literacy.
Body Literacy is a phrase coined by Laura Wershler. To be body literate means that you are able to understand the language of your body, especially so in regards to observing, charting, and interpreting your ovulatory menstrual cycles. The Justisse Method promotes body literacy by relying on individual observations that can vary from one day to the next as well as inviting in introspection about what those changes mean. We never use calculations or make assumptions about one's future fertility, instead we use direct observations.
I have trained at the Justisse International College for Women and teach the Justisse Method (JM) which is created on the foundation of teaching body literacy. This method is highly effective for avoiding pregnancy and 100% effective for achieving pregnancy within 6 months assuming there are no underlying fertility challenges.

Everyone's body functions differently and even our cycles often vary from one to the other. It is helpful to work with a trained instructor to boost your confidence and to have the opportunity to ask questions. Although I believe all women and people who menstruate are able to learn to correctly identify their fertile times, it can be challenging at first, especially without guidance.
Working with an HRHP like myself offers the additional benefits of being able to analyze charts, consider dietary changes and supplementations, observe the impacts of major life events on your chart, and so much more. I have an in-depth knowledge of the menstrual cycle, the endocrine system, and the factors involved. Additionally, I include my unique yogic and energy work background when appropriate to assist my clients. Together we can work towards boosting your wellbeing and achieving your pregnancy-related goals.
JM is highly effective for avoiding pregnancy! Many studies have found similar methods to be from 95% - 99.7% effective.
